The Cantina Settecani was established in 1923 in the eponymous district of Castelvetro di Modena. The locality's name dates back to the 12th century, and legend recounts its origins. It is said that on a day, seven men at work succumbed to blasphemous exclamations as a religious procession passed by. The divine punishment for this behaviour was to be transformed into dogs. To commemorate this legend, the old facade of the winery bears engravings of the snouts of seven small dogs. Thus, 48 vintners joined forces at that time to establish one of the oldest wine cooperatives in the Emilia region.

A hundred years later, the Cantina unites 150 members: a true family of families managing 400 hectares of vineyards and harvesting around 50,000 tons of grapes annually. This production splendidly represents the wine tradition of Emilia, ranging from the Lambrusco varieties, especially Grasparossa, to Pignoletto and Trebbiano.

In facing the challenges of innovation and sustainability, the Cantina looks to the future with the spirit of its origins: as a large family working together to grow and offer wines of high-quality standards accessible to the market.
