In the northeast region of Calabria and the eastern edge of the Pollino National Park, the vineyards of Tenuta Ferrocinto are geographically right in the middle of the Italian boot. The approximately equal distance from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west and the Ionian Sea in the east create an ideal microclimate for growing grapes. The area is famous for its hot days and cool nights.
The first vines were planted already in 1855 and in 2003 a renovation was completed, which now ensures the most modern oenological practices. In average the vineyards lie at an altitude of 450m above the sea level. The clay and limestone soils are particularly rich in potassium and a constant sunlight ensures an ideal organoleptic characteristic of the grapes.
The cellar and winemaking techniques are divided into two levels: a more modern and innovative fermentation with advanced techniques such as pressing of the grapes in an inert environment, and a more traditional level where the wine maturing and holding occurs in authentic, old botte with the ever watchful eye of the winemaker.
