“Nove” Pinot Grigio Rosé Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2024 / Mezzacorona / Trentino

Container of 6 bottles

Low-alcohol rosé wine from Italy

The “Nove” Pinot Grigio Rosé Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT by Mezzacorona is a premium, low-alcohol rosé wine from Trentino, one of northern Italy’s most renowned wine regions. Since 1904, Mezzacorona has cultivated its vineyards in the valleys of Trentino and South Tyrol, where alpine conditions - cool nights and sun-drenched days - create the perfect environment for growing fresh, aromatic wines. The vines thrive in the mineral-rich soils of the Rotaliana Plain, particularly in the “Zambiani” area near the village of Mezzocorona, also known by its German name, Kronmetz.

The Pinot Grigio grape, a mutation of Pinot Noir with greyish-pink skins, was introduced to Italy in the 19th century and has flourished in Trentino’s unique terroir. The region’s later ripening period encourages the development of complex aromas and a well-balanced acidity. For the “Nove” Rosé, grapes are harvested between late August and early September, then carefully destemmed and gently pressed. A brief cold maceration imparts the wine’s delicate blush hue before fermentation begins at controlled temperatures of 16 to 18 °C using selected yeasts.

The bouquet of the “Nove” Pinot Grigio Rosé is layered and expressive. Vibrant notes of strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant, lemon, lime, pear, apple and peach are complemented by floral hints of white blossom and a subtle minerality. On the palate, the wine is balanced and refreshing, with lively acidity and a whisper of natural sweetness. Its texture is sleek and smooth, leading to a clean, harmonious finish.

With an alcohol content of just around 9% vol. and a low sugar level, the “Nove” is an ideal choice for mindful enjoyment. It makes a delightful aperitif and pairs beautifully with light Mediterranean starters, crisp salads, seafood and fish dishes, white meats and vegetarian fare. Mild cheeses and summery dishes such as quiche or citrus-accented sorbets also complement its fresh, fruit-forward character. The recommended serving temperature is between 10 and 12 °C.

This rosé wine harmoniously blends traditional viticulture with modern oenology, alpine heritage and a clear commitment to sustainability - culminating in an authentic and expressive tasting experience. The “Nove” Pinot Grigio Rosé from Mezzacorona is the perfect choice for those who appreciate a refined, light and aromatic rosé - ideal for sunlit afternoons, convivial gatherings or moments of quiet indulgence. And because fine wine is best enjoyed in good company, the “Nove” comes as a stylish set of six 0.75-litre bottles - an invitation to celebrate special occasions with grace and generosity.

  • Quality Designation: Indicazione Geografica Tipica (IGT)
  • Grape: 100% Pinot Grigio.
  • Origin and soil conditions: The “Nove” Pinot Grigio Rosé originates from Trentino, a northern Italian region nestled at the foot of the Dolomites. The terroir is characterised by an alpine climate, with cool nights and sunny days that promote balanced ripening and freshness in the grapes. The vineyards are situated on well-ventilated, mineral-rich soils, which contribute to the development of refined aromas and an elegant structure. These natural conditions provide the foundation for a vibrant, fruit-forward rosé with a distinctive sense of place.
  • Vinification: The grapes are harvested between late August and early September, once they have reached optimal ripeness. Following the harvest, they undergo careful destemming and gentle pressing. The resulting must is then subjected to a brief cold maceration, during which the grape skins remain in contact with the juice for a limited time. This step is essential for achieving the delicate rosé colour, as the pigments are extracted from the skins. After maceration, a second gentle pressing ensures that the aromatic components are preserved in their purest form. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures between 16 and 18 °C using selected yeast strains, which help retain the wine’s fresh, fruity and floral character. It is worth noting that Pinot Grigio grapes have a naturally grey-pink skin, which allows to produce a pale rosé when macerated briefly - a distinctive feature that sets this style apart from traditional white wines. The precise vinification process plays a key role in shaping the clarity, elegance and aromatic depth of the finished wine.
  • Scent: The bouquet of this wine is rich and expressive, shaped by a harmonious blend of fruity and floral aromas. Dominant notes of red berries - such as strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant - lend a vibrant freshness to the nose. These are complemented by citrus accents of lemon and lime, alongside juicy hints of pear, apple and peach that add depth and complexity. Delicate floral tones of white blossoms and a subtle mineral touch round off the aromatic profile with elegance. Overall, the wine presents itself as fresh and fruit-forward, offering a well-balanced interplay of fruit, blossom and minerality.
  • Taste: On the palate, this wine is balanced and refreshing, supported by lively, well-integrated acidity and a subtle touch of natural sweetness. The fruity aromas perceived on the nose continue seamlessly in flavour, with distinct notes of strawberry, peach and grapefruit shaping its profile. Although dry in style, the wine remains approachable and finely tuned, appealing especially to those who appreciate delicate rosés. Its texture is smooth and slender, lending an elegant lightness, while the finish is clean, crisp and harmonious - delivering a rounded tasting experience with a refreshing character.
  • Colour: Delicate rosé with a subtle copper hue.
  • Alcohol content: 9 % Vol.
  • Residual sugar: 4,5 g/l
  • Total acidity: 5,4 g/l
  • Closure type: Screw cap.
  • Serving recommendation: Equally convincing as an aperitif, the “Nove” Pinot Grigio Rosé reveals its fresh, fruit-driven character best when served well chilled. Its vibrant profile makes it an ideal companion to a wide range of dishes. It pairs beautifully with light Mediterranean starters such as antipasti, fresh salads, or carpaccio of fish and vegetables. Seafood dishes - including grilled fish, prawns, scallops or sushi - are enhanced by its balanced acidity and subtle fruit notes. Light pasta and rice dishes, as well as preparations with white meats like chicken or turkey accompanied by citrus or fruit-based sauces, benefit from the wine’s refined aromatic structure. Vegetarian options, especially Mediterranean-style vegetable dishes, lemon risotto or meals featuring mild goat’s cheese, find a stylish partner in this rosé. For summer occasions, it complements picnic fare, grilled vegetables and fresh sandwiches with ease. Optionally, it may also be served alongside fresh fruit salads or citrus sorbets, provided the dessert’s sweetness remains restrained.

Grape variety

PINOT GRIGIO

The Pinot Grigio grape originally hails from France’s Burgundy region, where it emerged as a mutation of the Pinot Noir grape. In the 19th century, it was brought to Italy, initially finding a home in the regions of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto. It later spread to Trentino, nestled between the Dolomites and the mountains of Lake Garda. These areas offer excellent conditions for cultivating Pinot Grigio, thanks to their geographic location and moderate climate. The leaves of the Pinot Grigio vine are typically medium-sized, rounded, and deeply lobed. The shoots are of medium strength, with a green to reddish hue. The grapes themselves are small, compact, and cylindrical, with a distinctive grey-pink coloration that sets them apart from other white grape varieties. In Trentino, Pinot Grigio grapes ripen later, allowing them to develop their characteristic aromas and the necessary acidity that distinguishes high-quality wines. The moderate climate and diverse soil types in Trentino contribute to preserving complex aromas and a good acid structure in the grapes. Today, vintners in this northern Italian region dedicate themselves meticulously to cultivating Pinot Grigio, ensuring the best conditions for producing premium wines. Their focus is often on creating fresh, fruity wines with balanced acidity that highlight the typical features of this grape variety.
