Grape: 100% Sangiovese Grosso.

Terrain: The soil formed through several geological eras and now has got a wide variety of minerals; there are areas rich in limestone mixed up with sand made by schist of limestone and clay. Mostly clayey areas and less sandy. Areas formed thanks to sediment transport (alluvium).

Growing System: Spurred cordon with dug soil.

Density: 3500 vines/hectare.

Altitude: 500 metres

Microclimate: The climate is typically Mediterranean, with showers concentrated in spring and autumn. The middle hill area is frequently windy, which is ideal to keep the vines healthy. The climate is generally mild, with a high rate of sunny days during the whole vegetative phase: these conditions guarantee a gradual and complete ripening of the grapes.

Production Process: Manual harvest when the grapes are perfectly ripe. Alcoholic fermentation with controlled temperature (26°C) for about 7-8 days on the skins. Malolactic fermentation in steel vats. Refining in oak barrels for 8-10 months.

Sensory characteristics: Fine and fruity bouquet with notes of violets, cherries and plums. In the taste, this wine is dry, soft and slightly velvety. It reminds a little of raspberry jam.

The Rosso di Montalcino is different from Brunello by its liveliness, originating of his youth.

Alcohol content: 13 % Vol.

Stopper: Natural cork

How to serve: This wine goes perfect with italian salami, mild raw ham, pasta with rich sauces, roasted red meat and venison.

Recommended serving temperature: Approximately 20°C [Room temperature].

Uncork 1 hour before being served.

BRUNELLO di Montalcino is a red grape. The BRUNELLO or SANGIOVESE GROSSO is one of the many clones of the Sangiovese grape. Expecially as Brunello di Montalcino, he made a big name. The Brunello is characterized by a very complex fragrance that is somewhat reminiscent of violets. He has strong tannins and is usually very strong in taste.
