The distillation technique has been known in Italy since the 11th century and was later spread by the Jesuits. Grappe are distilled from fermented press residues from winemaking. The use of the so-called pomace is therefore sustainable, because the grapes can be used not only for wine, but also for a wonderful spirit. For a long time, grappa had the reputation of being a drink from poor farmers, but thanks to technical optimizations of the distillation process during the 20th century, Grappa slowly became one of the world's most respected types of spirits, even among gourmets.

The traditional Mazzetti di Altavilla distillery from Altavilla in Monferrato near the famous “truffle town” of Alba in Piedmont has achieved true mastery in the production of Grappe. Strongly connected to tradition, but at the same time always looking for innovation.

The 3.0 Altogrado - Grappa Riserva by Mazzetti d'Altavilla is a strong grappa that is distilled from selected, fresh, and still moist wine pomace from the finest Piedmontese grapes. It gets its name from its extremely high alcohol content. It is distilled in a copper still, which is indirectly fired by steam, under vacuum using a discontinuous process. This grappa is then refined in stainless steel containers for at least three months and then stored in chestnut and oak barrels for 12 months. Coarse-grained, irrevocably determined and at the same time pleasant on the nose and the palate. The 3.0 Altogrado is impetuous in its structure, but also balanced and harmonious. A long-lasting aging process gives this pomace brandy credibility and maturity. Above all, however, is the lovable personality of this grappa.

3.0 Altogrado is unique among the Mazzetti d’Altavilla distillates. Filled in a modern bottle and with a high alcohol content of 51.4% vol., this Grappa presents itself as a product that still retains an aromatic essence, although that is almost impossible. And this gives us only Mother Nature and the knowledge of the Mazzetti family. In the nose, the Altogrado captivates with a harmonious and elegant bouquet. One can sense aromas of tobacco and spices. An outstanding balance on the palate. An extraordinary taste experience is created by notes of dried fruits, vanilla, and nuts. The high alcohol content fits perfectly into the overall picture of this Grappa.

At a recommended drinking temperature of around 20 to 22°C, the strong, yet harmonious Grappa 3.0 Altogrado - Grappa Riserva is an excellent drink at the end of every meal and prepares the taste buds perfectly for dessert.
