Fosso Corno is one of the rising stars among the premium wineries of Abruzzo, nestled gracefully on a hillside in the municipality of Roseto degli Abruzzi. From this vantage point, the view stretches eastward to the shimmering Adriatic Sea and westward to the majestic peaks of the Gran Sasso. The unique microclimate – shaped by hot days, cool nights and a refreshing sea breeze – offers ideal conditions for viticulture and lends the grapes a remarkable aromatic depth.
Founded in 2001 by siblings Marco and Sabrina Biscardo, Fosso Corno is guided by a clear philosophy: quality over quantity. The vineyards were deliberately planted at a low density of 4,500 vines per hectare, allowing for the production of concentrated, expressive wines. Chemical herbicides are strictly avoided; instead, the estate relies on selective hand harvesting, sustainable cultivation and innovative techniques such as the Appassimento method, where grapes are gently dried before vinification to intensify their flavour.
The winery’s portfolio ranges from fresh, easy-drinking wines like Cima Bianca and Cima Rosa to more complex reds such as Il Grande Silenzio – a powerful Montepulciano d’Abruzzo with depth and elegance – and the ambitious Orsus project, which has earned international acclaim for its refined vinification.
Fosso Corno stands for modern interpretations of traditional grape varieties, for sustainable winemaking, and for a distinctive style that captivates both connoisseurs and curious newcomers. For those who cherish Italian red wine and seek authentic character, this estate offers a compelling blend of passion, innovation and terroir.
